Time it takes to transcribe a 5 min audio
In our experience, it generally takes at least an hour to transcribe a 5 min audio. Some speakers speak slower, so it could be possible to transcribe in significantly shorter time, but for only one clip, it is not worth our resources to try to establish different rates for different speakers. We are happy to provide customized rates for clips of longer lengths.
Why is it more cost-effective to transcribe longer materials from the same speaker?
It's easier for our transcribers to work with materials from a single speaker over a longer duration because they can become familiar with that person's pronunciation, vocabulary, and speaking style. This efficiency allows us to offer a 15% discount for hour-long transcriptions of the same speaker.
Without this discount, a full hour of transcription would cost $180 (at $15 per 5 minutes). We're pleased to offer the reduced rate of $153 per hour as we believe it benefits both parties: we receive more consistent work, and you get professional transcription at a more affordable price.
